Cyclone Gabrielle Clean-Up: Hawke’s Bay

Tony Prosser, part of the Composting NZ family, tells us about the colossal undertaking up in Hawke’s Bay to shred flooded property and contents for landfill, following the damage left behind by Cyclone Gabrielle.

Our shredder is taking timber, light metal, carpet and fabric, etc, from up to 40 trucks per day and shredding the material to compact and save space at Omarunui landfill.

Seeing the sheer scale of personal possessions and property lost by the people of Hawke’s Bay has been a real eye opener for Tony, as he tells us in this short demonstration of how we’re mucking in and contributing to the clear-up operations.
