Play Safe Playground Chip – Wellington

Composting New Zealand stock, a laboratory tested and approved wood chip product for use as a playground safety surface. We call this product ‘Play-Safe’.

Using the right playground material will minimise the risk of fall injury to children using your playground. Our approved and certified playground covering provides soft cushioning for children’s play areas, around roundabouts, swings or other apparatus, and the light brown colour makes for a pleasing natural mulch look.

‘Play-Safe’ Playground Chip has been independently tested in a controlled environment to measure the critical fall height. SAI Global (NZ) Limited, an IANZ accredited test laboratory, have measured the impact of an instrumented test headform from various heights onto a 200mm deep bed of our product, and used the recorded information of each impact to determine the fall height at which the Head Injury Criterion (HIC) of 1000 is obtained. The results showed that the calculated critical fall height for our product would exceed 3 metres – well within legal requirements.
